Sgt Shane Meddock of the Ohio State Patrol has released the name of the 50 year old man who was involved in a one vehicle accident on Dayton Road early Thursday morning. Crews could not find any identification for the driver at the scene. Meddock has since been in contact with family members of the victim and has released his name.
Roger Couch was not wearing his seat belt when he was involved in a single car accident around 5:00 am in Mad River Township. He was ejected from a 1994 Chevrolet Pickup according to the OSP report. Couch who is from Springfield was headed westbound when he went off the right side of the roadway and traveled about 600 feet before striking a concrete pillar and utility pole overturning his truck.
Couch was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Care Flight with life threatening injuries. As of Noon today, he remained at the hospital.
Area homes and businesses were affected by a loss of electricity and cable service which was restored by around Noon to most of the estimated 90 customers. Joe Catanzaro, owner of the Carriage Inn confirmed that his business was closed for a short time until electric service was restored.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Patrol. Also responding to the scene was the Enon Police Department, Clark County Sheriff Deputies and the Enon/Mad River Township Fire and EMS Department.
