The Mad River Township Trustees will be working with road department supervisor Don O’Connor to identify streets in the township in need of repair this year. Trustee president Kathy Estep explained that the township will try to secure another Ohio Public Works Commission grant but there are no guarantees. Estep explained that the township received close to a million dollars in the past that was used to repair and resurface streets in the Green Meadows subdivision in the past.
Estep explained that Issue 1 on the May ballot is where voters can approve the continued grant opportunities for local governments. The issue allows the State of Ohio to sell bonds and would not be an increase to taxpayers. Estep stated that she hopes voters will support the issue that will continue to bring money to the local area for infrastructure.
The trustees entered into executive session to discuss a vacancy on the Enon Fire Department. No decision was announced.
The trustees agreed to hold a special meeting on April 14th at 7:00PM at the township building. The discussion will include but will not be limited to developing a road improvement levy for the November ballot and changes to the personnel policy manual. The township will need to work with the Clark County Auditor to set the millage for a levy once they decide the amount of funds to be generated.
Don O’Connor reported that the cemetery work will include laying sod and placement of headstone foundations in time for Memorial Day. The memorial tree plaques will be placed by the holiday weekend as well.
The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, April 21st with a formal session beginning at 7:30 pm.
