The Clark County Solid Waste District is planning a new pilot program for the collection of household hazardous wastes. Rather than a single, free collection event one time each year, we will be trying a bimonthly collection plan with a modest user fee. This pilot program is intended to control costs and, more importantly, make disposing of hazardous wastes more convenient for residents.
Due to limited capacity to handle very large volumes of waste, we will be limiting the number of residents we can serve at each date. Please note: you will need to schedule an appointment to drop off your hazardous wastes. We will schedule 10 residents per hour (9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. time slot, 10 am-11am, and 11am-noon).
The collections will be held on the first Saturday of each of the following months, from 9:00 a.m. – noon:
March 1
April 5
June 7
August 2
October4
There will be a fee of $1.00 per pound for all accepted hazardous wastes. Cash only, please. To save time and money, please check our website for instructions on properly disposing of hazardous wastes—many substances can simply be poured down the drain or thrown into the trash at home for free.
Note: residents may also recycle electronics and appliances, used tires, latex paint, fluorescent bulbs, and secure documents for shredding during these times as part of our normal, year-round specialty recycling program.
