During the week of Monday, March 1st to Friday, March 5th the Greenon FFA held their annual FFA spirit week.
On Monday the theme was blue and gold apparel day and the contests included the bale toss and boot scraper curling. The winner for the guys division in the bale toss was Zack Hupp with 27.6ft and Sara Hupp for the girls with 17ft. The boot-scraper curling is a new event this year that was created by Ritchie Burns, Mike Miotke, and John Klarer. There was a tie for the guys with Ritchie Burns, Braden Storck, Billy Egbert, Sam Klarer, Grant Renner, Zack Hupp, Nick Hupp, Cody Cooper, and AJ Dressler, because all of them threw the maximum distance. Kyra Dorney won for the girls by also throwing the maximum distance. For the teacher division, Mr. McCoart and Mr. Johnson tied by throwing the full distance.
On Tuesday the theme was cowboy/cowgirl and FFA apparel day. The nail driving contest was held on this day and Zack Hupp won for the guys with 6.8 seconds and Sara Hupp won for the girls with 8 seconds. Corn hole was also an event on this day.
On Wednesday the theme was hat and truck/tractor apparel day. For the newly added screw driving contest, Zack Hupp won the guys division with 31.32 seconds and Kyra Dorney won the girls division with 35.57 seconds. In the hillbilly golf competition there was a twelve point tie between two teams that consisted of Tyler Wyen and Derek Stites versus Morgan Pridemore and Amanda Boling.
On Thursday the theme was flannel/lumberjack day. In the pedal tractor obstacle course, Ritchie Burns won for the guys with 9.37 seconds and Shannon Delong won for the girls with 9.08 seconds. For the pedal tractor "drag" racing, Ritchie won again for the guys with 7.57 seconds and Shannon also won again for the girls with 7.47 seconds.
On Friday the themes were Carhartt apparel and drive your tractor to school day. The students who drove their tractors to school included Becky Hart riding with Braden Storck, Grant Renner, Liz Cardosi riding with Derek Stites, Sara Hupp riding with Nick Hupp, Zack Hupp, Emily Stacy riding with Zach Stacy, Lizz Scott riding with her brother Jake, Ryan Grimm, Amanda Boling, Preston Bowers, Kasey Smith and Emily Tankersley riding with Mr. McCoart. The group started out at Mr. McClure's house, and paraded down Rebert Pike to the horseshoe where they completed a few laps. Also, there was a "lasso the calf" contest in which Dalton Lacy, AJ Dressler, and Nick Hupp won overall.
